During the 2024-2025 school year students involved with
Fierce Mustang Media will be involved in a community-wide media and information literacy campaign funded with an
Impact Grant from the California Teachers Association
Institute for Teaching.

Students will research, report, and create content related to how San Joaquin County residents can better understand the media messages they see every day.

As part of the work, students involved in the project will produce the following media literacy content: media literacy guide, media literacy workbook, one-page media careers handout, one-page media careers handout, and one-page recommended media equipment handout.
In the Spring 2025 semester, Media Literacy Ambassadors will be dispatched to K12 classrooms and local events to share their learnings and knowledge with the community.

Resources
In the Fall 2024 semester, students involved in Equity Honors Projects worked on all the media deliverables related to this project, which includes: a media literacy pocket guide, a one-sheet explainer, one-page flyers on media careers, media pathways, and media equipment,
a media literacy slide desk, and a pledge card.
​
Faculty worked on curriculum related to using these deliverables in the classroom. Deliverables,
which can be downloaded and printed for personal use, will all be uploaded by mid January 2025.

For the Fall 2024 semester, our team is made up of Media Literacy Researchers. For the Spring 2025 semester, our team will be made up of Media Literacy Ambassadors.
